Composers in Spain and in the New World employed to a great extent these vivacious rhythms and dance energies in their villancicos/비얀시코. Zéspedes’ lively composition, Convidando está la noche, drawing heavily on secular origins and influences in both text and style, is a guaracha/과라차, an early form of peasant street music with satirical lyric with origins in Spain and dance patterns of African origin. The poetic form of the Spanish and New World villancico is that of an estribillo/에스뜨리비요/후렴 (or refrain) and coplas/코플라/가사 (verses). In Convidando está la noche the form is reversed.The first part, the juguete which acts as the verse (coplas). The second part, the estribillo (refrain) is the guaracha.
